| LAYLA BOZEK director/producer/editor Layla Bozek is a native of northern California where she grew up in a rural, working class community. Her early interest in cinema led her to experiment with filmmaking at the California Institute of the Arts, finding her niche in post-production as an editor and in documentary filmmaking. While at UCLA, she excelled in broadcast editing for the Daily Bruin Television Department and marketing campaigns at the John Wooden Center. As a supervising producer for UCLA's ResTv, she shaped all short form content for both broadcast and online distribution. While editing her own films, she completed a short in conjunction with several Los Angeles organizations about the multi-cultural founding of the city. In 2009, Layla graduated from the prestigious UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television with a concentration in documentary filmmaking. Her work was recognized with the Jennifer Momtazee Memorial Scholarship and the Mary Pickford Award. Following graduation, Layla served as an assistant editor for BlipTv, MTV's Department of New Media and the non-profit organization Eyes of the World Media Group. She is currently developing several documentary and new media projects. | HILARION BANKS director of photography Hilarion Banks has worked in the theatre and film industry for the past six years. With roots in theatrical lighting design and still photography, Hilarion always tries to bring a fresh and innovative approach to every film he works on. In 2009, Hilarion graduated from UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television, with an emphasis in cinematography. There he was able to fine-tune his abilities while studying under such ASC masters as Johnny Simons, Victor Kemper, and Vilmos Zsigmond. It was at UCLA that Hilarion met Layla Bozek. They began the production of Cope shortly thereafter. Hilarion is proud of the images that were captured over the course of production and he hopes that Cope will help garner the attention this issue deserves. |
